2014 DTM 3rd Round, Budapest: BMW Strong Again

Photo: BMW

Marco Wittmann, victorious at Hockenheim, strikes back and claims his second win of the season at the wheel of his Ice Watch BMW M4 DTM. Things are looking good for the German driver who takes once again the lead of the drivers Championship (50 points) after the first race of the season outside Germany in front of Mike Rockenfeller (31points, audi) and Edoardo Mortara (27 poins, audi). BMW is now second in the manufacturers championship with 118 points.

After their first win at Oschersleben, Mercedes-Benz find their selves once again in a weak position with the best placed C-Class AMG Coupe of Robert Wickens finishing just eleventh. Christian Vietoris, winner of the 2nd race in Oschersleben retired after 36 laps. Vitaly Petrov and Paul Di Resta finished in positions 16 and 18 while Gary Paffet retired after just one lap. Mercedes is now far behind in the manufacturers championship with just (41 points).

Thanks to Miguel Molina (Audi No.8) who finished second 6.615 seconds behind Wittman, Audi scores some good points once again but is yet to score a win this season. However thanks to its consistency, the Ingolstadt team keeps the lead of the manufacturers championship with 144 points.

Next race will be 29th June – Norisring (DE). Stay tuned!

2014 DTM 2nd Round, Oschersleben: Mercedes Victorious

After a disappointing first race at Hockenheim where the best placed Mercedes came eleventh, things went much better during the rain hit race at Oschersleben. Christian Vietoris scored the first win of the season for Mercedes which now places him in the second place of the drivers's championship.

The best placed BMW M4 DTM of Augusto Farfus crossed the chequered flag in 5th position. Marco Wittmann, winner of the first round at Hockenheim and pole sitter at Oscherleben, ended up finishing 19th. His race was ruined after he committed a mistake when trying to overtake Gary Puffet after the safety car and was obliged to make an extra pit stop.

Thanks to its more consistent points finish, Audi, the only manufacturer yet to win a race this season, took the lead of the constructors championship thanks to a solid second place by Mike Rockenfeller who also took the lead of the drivers championship.

Next up, the DTM circus will visit Budapest in less than two weeks. Stay tuned!

2014 DTM 1st Round: Victory for BMW

After nearly 20 years of absence from the sport, BMW made its comeback to DTM in 2013 to claim both the drivers and the constructors titles in their first attempt. But the Bavarian automaker is here to stay and apparently is off to yet another promising season by claiming victory at the Hockenheim Ring's season opener.

BMW driver DTM, Marco Wittman drove the M4 DTM to its first win of the season yesterday in front of the two Audis of Mattias Ekström and Adrien Tambay. Mercedes, on the other hand, was struggling with the best placed C-class coupe driven by Pascal Wehrlein arriving in 11th position. Next stop will be Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. Come back for more DTM news!

Meet Mattias Ekström's 600 Hp Audi S1 Rally Car

Swedish DTM drivern Mattias Ekström introduced the EKS S1 Supercar. Prepared by the two times DTM champion's own rally cross team EKS, the little beast will compete in the top category of this year's FIA Rally cross championship. It will be racing against similar models from competitors like Peugeot, Citroën and Ford driven by several racing icons like Jacques Villeneuve and Petter Solberg just to name a few...

The S1 supercar's turbo inline four produces a whopping 600 Hp. It's actually at least 100 Hp more powerful than Mattias' DTM race car. As a result, the all wheel drive EKS Audi S1 Supercar will be able to hit 60 mph in 1.9 seconds! The car will make its debut next month at the World Rally Cross of Great Britain. More pictures of the beast in the gallery below and stay tuned for more details.

2014 Audi RS5 DTM debuts in Geneva

Last week BMW Motorsport unviled the M4 DTM Race car. This week, Audi unveiled a beautiful naked carbon fiber version of the new RS5 DTM race car at the Geneva motor show. The car features a revised more aggressive aerodynamic package as well as a modified suspension. It will make its racing debut on May 4th. More details can be found in the press release after the jump.
BMW M4 DTM Revealed

BMW Motorsport took wraps off their new DTM competitor and if their goal was to make it look really menacing in its competitor's rear view mirrors then I say mission accomplished. In addition to the mean look, the Bavarian beast is powered by a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated 90° V8 producing 480 Hp and approximately 500 Nm of torque. The engine sends it power to the rear wheels through a sequential six-speed sport gearbox.

The car features a carbon-fibre monocoque with integrated tank and steel roll cage, carbon-fiber crash elements on sides, front and rear. The BMW M4 DTM weights 1,110 kilograms including the driver. That allows it to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in under three seconds.

More pictures of the beast in the gallery below and more details in the press release after the jump.

Another Chinese Race might Be Added to The 2014 DTM Calendar

If everything goes well, we will see a new road course at the Chinese Guangzhou City beeing added to the DTM calendar for the 2014 season. DTM Champion Bernd Schneiner has already tasted the new 4.1 Kilometers long road circuit at the wheel of a AMG C-coupé racecar during an event held by Mercedes-Benz for the Chinese fans.

The DTM championship is no stranger to China since two races have already taken place at Shanghai. But it seems that Audi, BMW and Mercedes are willing reinforce their presence in China and also worldwide since the DTM Championship might also cross the Atlantic in the near future.

Farfus wins at Zandvoort, Rockenfeller becomes the new DTM champion

Last weekend Mike Rockenfeller (Audi) became DTM's new champion despite Augusto Farfus (BMW) winning the 9th round of the championship at Zandvoort, Netherlands. The best placed Mercedes-Benz driver was Gary Paffet who crossed the finish line in ninth position. So after their successful comeback to DTM, BMW failed to score a second championship win but their performance remains nonetheless remarkable. The final round of the DTM season will take place in the Hockenheim Ring in Germany.

2013 Audi RS5 DTM Revealed at Geneva

Audi revealed its new RS5 based DTM racer, which looks pretty much like last year's car except for the hugely revised aero package. The RS5 DTM is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 producing 500 Hp. The car will make its race track debut on April 26th at the DTM testing sessions. This year's list of destinations for the Championship in addition to Germany include Austria, Great Britain, Netherlands and Russia.

This year, Audi will have to face last year's new comer BMW, who in their first attempt after 18 years of absense, took the championship from Audi and Mercedes...

BMW's comeback to DTM couldn't be more perfect. After eighteen year's of absence from the sport, the German automaker won the driver's championship in his first attempt. To celebrate the achievement, they introduced the M3 DTM Champion Edition. The special edition M3 is finished in matte black and features a stripe with BMW ///M colors on its roof... and of course Bruno Spengler's signature. From the inside, several changes have been made including the carbon fiber dashboard and the new steering wheel.

There's no word about the performance upgrades done to this car but this limited edition will cost you €99K, €30K more than the standard M3. If you really, really, really love BMW and want to be part of its historic return to DTM, we would understand if you buy it..

First Livery of the BMW M3 DTM unveiled

It's not that easy to make green and blue look together on a race car livery. Of course, the green and blue "psychedelic" livery on the Porsche 917K from 1970 will always be my favourite. But i have to admit that BMW's take on green and blue for its first DTM racer isn't bad either. Unlike the Porsche, the colors on this livery are actually the official colors of the two major sponsors which are Castrol and the ARAL gas stations. The 2012 DTM season kicks off next april. In the meantime, you can check out the official 2012 DTM cars from Mercedes-Benz and Audi.

VIDEO: 2012 Mercedes-Benz DTM Racer revealed

Yesterday, Michael Schumacher and Nico Roseberg took wraps off Mercedes' new DTM machine at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The new racer packs out 500 Hp coming from a naturally aspirated 4.0-Liter AMG V8 unit. It has a carbon fiber monocoque chassis and has a total weight of 1043 Kg (2300 pounds). Competition will be ferocious as the new C class coupe based DTM racer will compete against Audi and BMW which are also entering the series with two brand new racers based on production coupes: The Audi A5 and the BMW M3. And let's not forget that BMW is coming back to the series after an 18 year absence.

2012 Audi A5 DTM Racer revealed in Frankfurt

Today, Audi has revealed its new DTM racer which is about to compete with BMW and Mercedes-Benz starting from the next season. And just like Mercedes and BMW's racers are based on production coupes (instead of sedans like it has been the case for several years) Audi's new DTM machine is basedd on the facelifted A5 coupe. It is powered by a naturally aspirated V8 that packs out a total of 460 Hp. Stay tuned for the new DTM season next year as it promises to be very exciting with a new set of regulations as well as the long awated BMW comeback to the series.
