Tokyo Auto Salon: Subaru WRX STi Race Car [UPDATE: Video]

Last week, we discovered the first pictures of the 2015 Subaru WRX STi and now the race car variant was revealed at the Tokyo Auto Salon. The race car will compete in the SP3T class of the 2014 24 Hours Nürburgring race that takes place next June, 19th. The car will be driver by Toshihiro Yoshida and Kouta Sasaki from Japan. We'll bring you more information about the power train as soon as we learn more about its road going sister.
2015 Subaru WRX STi Leaked

The first leaked pictures of the highly anticipated 2015 Subaru WRX STi have finally hit the web. The car comes in its iconic blue paint job with golden wheels and features a more aggressive styling and a big rear wing. Still no details on the power train but the 2015 Subaru WRX that was unveiled months ago is powered by a 2.0-liter four cylinder boxer engine producing 268 Hp and 349 Nm of torque, so expect the STi version to be somewhere near 300 Hp.

The car will make its public debut later this month at the NAIAS Detroit Auto Show. More pictures in the gallery below.

2015 Subaru WRX does What it Was Made For [VIDEO]

Subaru released this new clip of the 2015 Impreza WRX tackling some dirty roads. I guess we will all have to learn to love the way it looks..

As a refresher, the new 2015 WRX is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder Boxer engine producing 268 Hp and 349 Nm (256 lb/ft) of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through a five-speed DIY transmission or a six-speed manual transmission. The 0 to 60 mph (98 km/h) time is 5.4 seconds (with the five-speed DIY transmission).

2015 Subaru WRX Fully Revealed

It's not as sexy as we were expecting since we had higher expectations when we saw the WRX Concept car. But it's still a good car that leaves too much room for customization. Maybe we need to understand Subaru's design phylosophy, to understand why the stunning WRX Concept didn't make it to production.

The interior is a massive improvement over the 2014 model but then again, it could be better. More pcitures and details in the press release after the jump.

2015 Subaru Legacy Concept Revealed Ahead of LA

Subaru revealed the 2015 Legacy concept ahead of the L.A. Motor Show next week. The first thing that comes to mind is that the new Legacy looks a little bit Huyundai-ish. But no body can deny the fact that it looks very attractive, especially the front fascia which is largely inspired by the Subaru WRX Concept introduced earlier this year. Stay tuned for more information about Subaru's new four door coupé.

2015 Subaru WRX Teased!

Subaru released the first teaser of its long awaited WRX model. The design seems to have changed considerably but in the good direction since the last concept car introduced in New York earlier this year. Details are a little scarce at the moment bu the Japanese coupe will keep its iconic boxer engine which might produce 265 Hp for the based model.

The car will make its debut at the LA motor show and we simply can't wait to the rest of it!
Subaru WRX Concept Makes its Appearence on the Web [VIDEO UPDATE]

What you are looking at here is a possible future WRX model from Subaru. And we couldn't be more happy to see these pictures.. The rally beast will most likely be powered by a turbocharged boxer engine. Details are a little scarce at the moment but don't worry since the new concept will be publicly unveiled at the New York Motor Show this week. We're really excited to know that Subaru is cooking something special for its fans. Your turn, Mitsubishi!

I like how the Japanese automakers give too much importance to motorsport even if they are in financial trouble. I remember how the Honda HSV started up as a future NSX and ended up as a magnificent race car after the road going version project has been dropped. Things were a little bit different concerning the Subaru BRZ as it has just been unveiled last week at the Tokyo Motor Show (seperated at birth from the Toyota ft-86 and the Scion FR-S or is it?). And now we have the pleasure to see the GT300 version of the little sport car in this short but nice video. I like the mention "Proud of boxer" at the rear. Very good looking race car!
The 2011 Subaru Impreza STI's Hot Lap on The Ring

2011 subaru impreza WRX STI

If you still haven't seen it yet, here's an HD version of the STI Impreza WRX's lap in the hands of four times WRC champion Tommy Mäkinen. The more conventional four door version tuned by STi managed to lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 7min 55 seconds. Impressive for a 305 Hp machine. But again, power isn't anything in the Green Hell, the better balanced sedan body as well as some slight enhancements made for the occasion (and also a four times world champion) sure helped to achieve this good performance.

You can watch Tommy Mäkinen handle the six speed manual gear box and hear the 2.5 L boxer screaming right below. (If you want more Nordschleife action go here)
