VW joining the WRC with Polo R based Rally Car

It seems like more and more constructors are attracted with the new WRC formula. After BMW joined the championship this year with the mini coutryman WRC edition, now Volkswagen has decided to join the show starting in 2013 with its Polo R based rally car.

The Polo R WRC car will be powered by a 1.6-liter turbo engine rated at about 300 Hp. Volkswagen's latest crowned participation in the world rally championship goes back to the eighties where the german manufacturer won the Group A rally championship in 1986 thanks to talent of swedish driver Kenneth Eriksson at the wheel of a 1.6-Liter Golf GTI. But we have to admit that the group B monsters were drawing all the attention at that time because of this. Anyway, the Polo R WRC looks good and you can find some high res pictures of it in the gallery below.

Will the New Citroen DS3 WRC Bring Sébastien Loeb an Eighth World Title?

After a seventh WRC title there's no doubt that Sébastien Loeb has got what it takes to be an unbeatable rally driver. Whether on asphalt, gravel or dirt, the frenchman proved to be a fearless driver. And after winning the title in three different cars, the french rally driver clearly has nothing more to prove about his talent. So the question now is: will the new DS3 WRC car be as good as it looks and help Sébastien win his eighth world title?

The new DS3 WRC car is powered by a 1.6 L inline four-cylinder developping 300 Hp. The first round of the 2011 season will be the Swedish Rally on February 12th. Don't miss it to see the DS3 in action along with the newcomer Mini Countryman WRC car.
