Scion FR-S on Vossen Wheels

If the Bulletproof wide body Scion FR-S was too much for you, this much humbler red Scion FR-S might be your kind of thing. The formula is simple, take beautiful red Scion FR-S (aka Toyota GT86), replace the original wheels by a set of 19-inch Vossens, the CV3 model to be precise, and you have stunning ride without the extra "hey look at me" factor.

Since this car is prepared by wheel and tire specialist WSI, their tires of choice were Vredestein's Ultrac Sessanta. We have no idea if some engine tweaks were applied, but we think it'll do just fine with the original 2.0-liter turbo engine. More pictures in the gallery below.

Pick of The Day: 2013 Scion FR-S Concept One by Bulletproof Automotive

Introduced in the beginning of this month at the SEMA show, the FR-S Concept by Bulletproof Automotive is the perfect example of how versatile the Scion FR-S (Toyota GT86) can be. The Concept One is simply a race car for the road. Its turbocharged engine was tuned to produce as much as 500 Hp while some drastic weight saving measures were taken to bring the weight down to just 1,360 kilograms (3000 pounds)!

The car features an extensive list of high quality parts coming from different suppliers like the VARIS Wide Body Kit ($5,995), the Amuse R1 Titan Extra STTI Exhausts ($3,595) and the Amuse Hi Tech-Damper Kit ($4,450). The result is a truly outstanding car with a supercar-like power to weight ratio. More pictures in the gallery below.

Pick of the Day: Scion FR-S by SR Auto Group

We came across this fantastic project by SR Auto Group based on our well loved Scion FR-S (aka Toyota FT-86 aka Subaru BRZ). This tuning project is is the result of a cooperation between SR Auto and OpenRoad Scion. The car features a Rocket Bunny widebody kit that includes widened fender and rear wheel arches, a new front bumper, a front splitter, side skirts, a rear diffuser and a GT style rear wing. But that's not all, a carbon fiber hood and side mirrors are also part of the package.

The car rides on 18 inch 57Extreme wheels from RAYS painted in 'winning blue'. Perfect.

We really urge you to read the full story of this build on SR Auto Group's blog where you can find more pictures of the beast!

Three Scion FR-S Projects will be Head to Head at the SEMA Show

Scion will be bringing three different tuned versions of its FR-S sports Coupe to the 2012 SEMA Show. The idea is simple, Scion picked three different tuners, provided each one with a brand new FR-S and $15k. The three models that you can see in the gallery below will go head to head in the design competition in which the winner will take home a $10,000 prize.

But being part of the design competition doesn't mean the absence of performance upgrades but they remain minimalistic since the main focus stays on design. The aesthetic changes are pretty dramatic on Daniel Song's FR-S GT which looks more like a race ready version of the sports coupe. The two other version are the
"Carbon Stealth FR-S" prepared by John Toca (Chicago) and the "Minty FReSh" by Chris Basselgia (Lebanon).

You can watch each of the competitors speak about his car in the three videos after the jump. But before that, tell us which one do you prefer?

I like how the Japanese automakers give too much importance to motorsport even if they are in financial trouble. I remember how the Honda HSV started up as a future NSX and ended up as a magnificent race car after the road going version project has been dropped. Things were a little bit different concerning the Subaru BRZ as it has just been unveiled last week at the Tokyo Motor Show (seperated at birth from the Toyota ft-86 and the Scion FR-S or is it?). And now we have the pleasure to see the GT300 version of the little sport car in this short but nice video. I like the mention "Proud of boxer" at the rear. Very good looking race car!
