Legend...

You wouldn't expect less than that from a nine times WRC champion and a constructor with such a pedigree in rallying and in the race to the clouds its self. Any comparaison with the Peugeot 405 T16 Pikes Peak is invalid though since back in time only two thirds of the course were paved and the rest of it was pure danger...
Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak Specs Released with More Pictures

Has a 1Hp / Kilogram power to weight ratio...

Peugeot revealed the official technical specs of its 2013 Pikes Peak competitor. The 208 T16 will be powered by a 3.2-liter twin-turbo V6 producing 875 Hp and sending power to the four wheels through a 6-speed sequential gearbox. The beast will be able to complete the 0 to 100 Km/h sprint in 1.8 seconds and needs just 4.8 seconds to reach 200 Km/h! Those impressive performance numbers are achieved thanks to a curb weight of just 875 Kilograms.

VIDEO: Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak Fully Revealed

After releasing a few teasers, Peugeot officially revealed its 208 T16 Pikes Peak competitor for the 2013 edition of the race to the clouds.

Even though the T16 is inspired by the production version of the Peugeot 208, the similarities between the two cars are minimal. The Pikes Peak variant is distinguished by its extremely wide fenders and rear wheels arches as well as its ridiculously pronounced aero kit. Interestingly, the rear wing is borrowed from the Peugeot 908, winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

There's no word yet from Peugeot about what powers this beast but the unlimited class features machines that produce as much as 1,000 Hp. So a 800+ Hp power train is not out of question. The official livery of the car is yet to be revealed but think it looks exquisite the way it is now!

Peugeot hopes to achieve once again what the 405 T16 once achieved. During the "race to the clouds", the beast will be driven by none other than eight times WRC World Champion Sébastien Loeb. Peugeot Teases its 2013 Pikes Peak Competitor!

I was really disappointed last year when the Pikes Peak course was completely paved. I was thinking that the race lost its magic.. And even though for the first time someone finished the course in less than 10 minutes, it wasn't such an achievement as it would have been with the former track configuration.. Even the master himself, Tagima Monster, went to dispute the famous race in an electric car..

So I was kind of disinterested to follow Pikes Peak this year but then I heard that Peugeot was preparing a T16 version of the 208 model to dispute the event and it reminded of this. And now they released the first teasers of their competitor. So maybe it won't be a waste of time to follow the race this year after all...

Pikes Peak 2012: On board with Tajima "Monster" and his Electric Beast

Sorry for not paying attention the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb this year but with the whole course paved from top to bottom, all the race lost its magic for me. Plus, Nobuhiro Tajima, after dominating the unlimited class for years and breaking the 10 minutes barrier last year, chose to participate in the electric vehicle class in this year's edition. Well, you can't blame him!

Unfortunately, the race didn't go as well as expected for him and he was forced to abandon. The 850 Hp LOVEFab NSX failed to finish too and there was a huge Lancer Evolution crash that you can watch here... And oh yes, Rhys Millen scored his first Pikes Peak victory with a 9:46. time, just 18 thousands of a second ahead of Le Mans winner Romain Dumas. You can find pictures of "Monster" Tagima's electric beast in the gallery below and let's wish him better luck for next year!

In This Year's Pikes Peak: a 850 Hp NSX

LOVEFAB has introduced its Pikes Peak competitor for this yer's edition based on a Honda NSX. With a total weight of 1090 Kg (2400 lbs)and a turbocharged V6 engine producing 850 Hp, the LOVEFAB NSX sure has got what it takes to play with the big boys of the unlimited class! Will it be able to compete with the likes of Rhys Millen's Hyundai Genesis PM580 and Monster Tagima's Suzuki SX4? The 90th edition of the Pikes Peak International Hillclimb will take place on August 12th. More pictures of the beast in the gallery below, and you can also see it in motion in the video after the jump.

Three Motorsport events you wouldn't Want to miss This Month

The month of june is very special for motorsport fans because it holds three of the most prestigious events of the year: Le mans 24 Hours, 24 Hours of Nürburgring and the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Of course there are plenty of other interesting events all over the year but let's just focus on these three. More details after the jump.

Pikes Peak 2011: Another Serious Contender to the Unlimited Class Record. Hint: 1307 hp

This year's edition of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb promises to be a very exciting one. After Dacia announced its participation to the "race to clouds" with a 850 Hp Dacia Duster, now Paul Dallenbach who is no stranger to the event, announces his participation with a totally different monster. After participating to the race in the openwheel category last year, he decided to join the elite in the unlimited class with a 1307 Hp and 1633 Nm (1206 lb-ft !) of torque beast based on last year's competitor which already packed out 745 hp from a naturally aspirated engine. The goal is simple: breaking the 10 minutes barrier and entering the history book of the race. Well that's gonna be a scary run for sure..

850 Hp GT-R Powered Dacia Duster to compete in Pikes Peak This Month

As if the Pikes Peak Hill Climb wasn't already exciting enough, this year, besides Rhys Millen and Tagima "Monster" coming back to try to claim the first under 10 minutes time in the unlimited class, Dacia yes Dacia joins the game with a 850 hp monster. Despite its modest look and even if the car carries the Dacia brand name which doesn't really have motorsport heritage, things are much more interesting when it comes to what is lying under its skin.

The unlimited class monster is designed by Tork Engineering under the assistance of Renault Sport Technologies. It sits on a tibular chassis and the really best part: it is powered by an engine based on the 3.8-liter V6 coming from the almighty Nissan GT-R. The V6 now develops nearly 850 Hp which means it is even more powerful than Rhys Millen's unlimited class Genesis PM580 and nearly as powerful as Tagima's Suzuki SX4 rally car. Well that should lead us to a very exciting battle! Don't miss the race to the clouds on June 26th. For more information about this epic race, you should check out this link.
