Part of its comeback to the World Rally Championship, Volkswagen unveiled a road going version of its new Polo R WRC Race Car. The car borrows many functional styling elements from the race car like the front splitter, the rear diffuser, the larger air intakes and the rear spoiler. Of course, the inevitable daytime LEDs are part of the package. The suspension has been lowered and the car rides on 18-inch ‘Cagliari’ wheels.

Unlike the WRC race car, the Polo R WRC road car is actually front wheel drive just like its older sister, the Golf R. But that doesn't mean you're not going to have fun at the wheel of the sporty small hatchback since it is powered by a 2.0-Liter turbocharged engine producing 220 Hp that allows it to reach 100 Km/h in 6.4 seconds with a top speed of 242 Km/h (151 mph).

The Polo R WRC street version will be limited to only 2,500 units. More pictures in the gallery below.
