Renault Sport Clio R3T Rally Car Revealed

RenaultSport introduced the Clio R3T rally car to join its fleet of customer race cars composed of the Twingo R2 Evo, Twingo R1 and the Megane N4. The new rally car is powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged four cylinder engine mounted to a Sadev-sourced six-speed sequential transmission.

The car will be introduced at the Rallye du Var part of the RenaultSport Rally Trophy Championship. It will be able to compete in the R3 category world wide. More details in the press release after the jump.

But don't get too excited because the CS-R3 won't be competing with the big boys at the WRC Championship. Instead, it will be competing in the lower R3 class. Still, it's refreshing to see that Toyota is still interested in rallying. Besides, it might be a preparation for a possible come back to the WRC's top league..

The car is currently under development by Toyota's Motorsport Division (TMG) and since no official pictures have been released yet. Here's the GT-86 VLN Race Car to give you an idea of what to expect.
