Caractere Exclusive Styling Package for the Porsche 911 Cabriolet


While over three quarters of the global consumption of polyurethane (PUR) products is in the form of foams [1], this versatile component can also be used for automobile parts as is the case with this Porsche 911 (type 991) styling package by Caractere Exclusive.

The Belgian specialist offers a full conversion kit which consists of redesigned front and rear bumpers, vented side skirts, light alloy forged wheels (20 or 21-inch) and a sport exhaust system. We have no information about the price of this styling package but we bet it's going to be much cheaper than a carbon fiber equivalent. More pictures in the gallery below.


2014 Porsche 911 RSR: Same but Different


Porsche unveiled its new 911 RSR race car based on the latest generation (type 991) Porsche 911. The car is set to compete in the World Endurance Championship. It is powered by a 4.0-Liter flat-six engine producing 460 Hp and sending power to the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential transmission. Porsche 911 (type 993) GT2 Turbo 3.6 Widebody MC600 by mcchip-dkr


German tuning firm mcchip-dkr introduced a heavily modified version of the Porsche 911 (Type 993) GT2 with a new wide body kit. It is powered by a 3.6-Liter flat six producing 604 Hp and 847 Nm of torque thanks to some engine tweaks by PUTZ Motorsport. It rides on 18 inch RS wheels and KW racing suspension Competition Variant 3. The exhaust system was developed by CARGRAPHIC and the limited-slip differential comes from Australian specialist Drexler Motorsport. More pictures in the gallery below.

Now that's a Porsche 911 tuned with taste. Take a new 911 type 991, fit it up with a TechArt bodykit, replace the original wheels with huge 22 inch ADV.1 wheels with yellow accent and the result is absolutely exquisite! Everything is nicely executed and the yellow paint job certainly adds to the beauty of this car. Unfortunately we don't have shots of the car's interior. There's no information about the performance upgrades either but even with the stock engine, this thing is a true beast.

Orbit Racing Builds a 911 GT3 RSR for the Street


A Porsche 911 GT3 RS owner from Florida was able to see his street legal 911 converted into a ferocious 911 GT3 RSR clone while keeping its ability to run on the public roads. This has been achieved thanks to the outstanding work done by Orbit Racing. The converted car benefits from Porsche RSR’s exhaust and a retuned ECU that helps it produce some extra power over the original's 450 Hp. Electric cars, They say it's the Future...

Electric motors are a great invention, they are very small comapred to combustion engines, they can produce huge amounts of torque at very low speeds, they aren't so noisy, they made our every day life easier, they are everywhere, from the gigantic power stations to the tiny DVD player in your laptop. They are magic.

Electric cars... they say it's future.. But there is only one problem with them, they need electricity to run. And in order to produce electricity for hundreds of millions of electric vehicles around the planet we need hundreds of huge gas powered turbines or nuclear reactors that cause more harm than good to this planet. To store electricity for hundreds of millions of electric cars we need batteries, very heavy and expensive ones. Batteries that are made from rare earth, they are costly to produce and they last only for one decade or two. They are toxic and you can't throw them anywhere.

Electric cars... they say it's the future... Maybe. But not in the way they are produced today. Let's take this electric Porsche 911 made by RUF as an exemple. Let's start by looking at the full half of the glass. It is powered by a three Phase induction motor that produces 150 Kw (204 hp) and 616 Newton Meters (455 ib/ft) of torque. More importantly, this huge amount of torque is available at unbelievably low speeds. That's exactly where electric motors shine compared to combustion engines. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in less than 7 seconds and it has a top speed of 160 mph, great! It is also capable of running 200 miles on a single charge! All this without emitting a single gram of CO2 (No, wait...).

Now this all sounds perfect! Once again, we put aside the environmental catastrophy that would be caused by hundreds of millions of people owning a car similar to this electric RUF and think about it from a driver's point of view. While a flat six powered 911 weights 1420 Kg, this baby is nearly 500 Kg heavier, thanks to all the batteries that are placed both at the front and at the rear of the car. To fully charge the batteries, the two ton sports car needs to stay still and pump electricity for 10 hours before it can go again for a 200 miles journey... if you don't drive it like a sports car. All this for a car that costs as much as five Golf GTIs.

Even if the world is not ready for fully electric cars. Cars like the Tesla Roadster and the eRUF are a great beginning. You can see them as moving laboratories, but they are far from being the solution.
