Two months ago, Mazda revealed its diesel Skyactiv-D powered Prototype that is set to compete in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship. And today we have the chance to discover the livery and more details about the only diesel race car in the championship.
The Japanese race car is powered by a 2.2-liter SKYACTIV-D Clean Diesel engine producing 450 hp and 786 Nm (580 lb-ft) of torque. The engine sends power to the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential Xtrac gearbox with paddle shifters. The race car weights just 900 kg (1,984 pounds) with a fuel tank that has a capacity of 73 liters.
Two cars will be entered at the Rolex Daytona 24 Hours this month and will be driven respectively by Sylvain Tremblay, Tom Long, Joel Miller and Tristan Nunez. Full details in the press release after the jump.
