50 Years of Porsche 911...

It's been nearly 50 years since the original Porsche 911 appeared at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1963. Throughout the years, the German sports car remained faithful to its original design language and engine configuration. A beetle shaped sports car with a rear mounted flat-six engine, this odd combination survived for 50 years. Until this day, the Porsche 911 is one of the finest, fastest, best selling sports cars in the world.

Part of its celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the iconic model, Porsche released these pictures of the original 911 side to side with the latest 911 Carrera S. It's interesting to see how the 911 became bigger throughout the years. Just like Lamborghini, Porsche will be marking the 50th anniversary by unveiling a special model at the Frankfurt Motor Show next September.

Check out the short documentary about the almighty 911 after jump.

Pick of The Day: Porsche 991 Carrera 4 by TopCar

The Porsche 911 type 991 has been around for a while now and some famous tuners already started working on the iconic Porsche model. This time it's Russian tuner TopCar who who introduced its bodykit for the 911 Carrera S model. The bodykit is made of carbon fiber and kevlar and it's said to make the car even lighter. TopCar is planning to fit the car with bespoke ADV.1 wheels and the car's flat six engine will be upgraded but German specialist 9ff. Expect more details on this car in December but for now we just have these renderings to see what the final product could look like.

Now that's a Porsche 911 tuned with taste. Take a new 911 type 991, fit it up with a TechArt bodykit, replace the original wheels with huge 22 inch ADV.1 wheels with yellow accent and the result is absolutely exquisite! Everything is nicely executed and the yellow paint job certainly adds to the beauty of this car. Unfortunately we don't have shots of the car's interior. There's no information about the performance upgrades either but even with the stock engine, this thing is a true beast.
