Daytona 24 Hours: Ferrari Victorious in GTD Class

The Ferrari 458 GT that crossed the checkered line first with Alessandro Pier Guidi at the wheel was finally rewarded the GTD Class victory at the Daytona 24h. Unfortunately, the drivers were not given the privilege of being on the podium since, the No. 555 Ferrari of Team Level 5 Motorsport was given a 75 seconds penalty after the stewards decided that the Ferrari was at fault in the last overtaking maneuver executed on the final lap by the Audi R8 driver Markus Winkelhock.

The decision was then reversed three hours after the race and the Ferrari was then rewarded the GTD class win which it deserved in the first place. The guys at AxisofOversteer have more to tell you about the race. So head on to their blog for more highlights.

Ferrari 458 Competition by Racing One

German tuning firm Racing One introduced its race ready Ferrari 458 Competition. The 4.5-liter V8 originally producing 572 Hp now develops 620 HP thanks to a series of race oriented upgrades. Of course, to be able to tackle the world's most challenging tracks, the car received suspension and chassis upgrades as well as Brembo racing brakes.

Aesthetically, the car gained some muscle with the new aerodynamic package which includes a new front bumper with canards, a new front splittec, a rear diffuser and of course the huge rear wing all made from carbon fiber. Finally, the car rides on 19 inch racing wheels. Being a stripped out racing beast, Racing One's 458 Italia weights just 1,200 kilograms (2,645 pounds).

Customers will be able to take their race car for a track day or participate in the German VLN racing series. More pictures in the gallery below.

Pick of the Day: ByDesign Motorsport Ferrari 458 Italia

The Ferrari 458 Italia is already a beautiful thing to look at in stock form. But if you really insist, there's a series of after market enhancements that you can apply to your Italian supercar in order to make it stand out.

Saudi tuning company By Design Motorsport introduced this stunning black and yellow Ferrari 458 Italia featuring a Vorsteiner carbon fiber body kit including front splitter, rear spoiler , rear diffuser and fog light cover.

The flexible front lips are finished in yellow to match paint job of the car and the roof is wrapped in matt black. The main stripe with the Vorsteiner logo is also finished in matt black. Finally, a new Akrapovic exhaust system with carbon fiber tips was installed. The car rides on ADV5.0 wheels finished in matt black and measuring 20 inches front, 21 inches rear.

DMC 458 Italia Estremo Edizione Revealed

After releasing the first teaser last week, DMC didn't make the wait too painful for us as they have finally took wraps off their hardcore Ferrari 458 Italia. Dubbed "Estremo Edizione", the Italian beauty has shed 30 Kilograms off its original weight thanks to the extensive use of carbon fiber. It also features a totally redesigned aero package which includes a new front bumper with carbon fiber splitter, a new carbon fiber rear bumper and rear diffuser, a new rear wing as well as a vented front hood fully made from carbon fiber.

The car sits on new bespoke alloy wheels with a staggered setup of 20 inches front, 21 inches rear. Also part of the package, a new air filter, sport exhausts system and a remapped ECU. The overall output is pushed to 592 Hp and the new performance numbers are as follows: 0 to 100 Km/h (62 mph) in 3.1 seconds, top speed: 332 Km/h (206 mph).

Only 15 units will be produced and just like the DMC Aventador which features a special "DIECI" edition each 10 units sold, the Estremo Edizione will have a "Gold Edition" that features a distinctive body element every third unit. It'll be interesting to see how the car would perform against Ferrari's own 458 Speciale!

DMC 458 Italia 'Estremo Edizione' Teaser Released

German tuner and body kit specialist DMC, known for outrageous models like the Ferrari F12 based "SPIA" or The Lamborghini Aventador Molto Veloce, has released the teaser for it s latest Ferrari 458 based project.

Dubbed 458 Italia Estremo Edizione, the car will be at least 60 kilograms lighter than the standard 458 and the 4.5-liter V8 producing 572 Hp is expected to receive the upgrades that go with the new body. Stay tuned for more details.

BMW M6 vs Ferrari 458 Italia [VIDEO]

On paper, the Ferrari is 580 Kg (1200 pounds) lighter and slightly more powerful so it should win this battle. And so it did. So what's the purpose of doing such a test you'd ask. F458 on 22 inch ADV5.0 Track Spec Wheels!

It seems that the Ferrari 458 Italia's is on Advance One Wheels' favorite rides, and we can't blame them! The Italian supercar is just beautiful! So here we have a 458 Italia riding on 21 inch ADV5.0 Track Spec Wheels at the front and huge 22 inches at the back (don't get me wrong...). RAM Racing to join ELMS in 2013 with the Ferrari 458 Italia GTE

British Racing Team RAM, who is no stranger to high level motor sport competitions including Formula 1, will be joining the European Le Mans Series starting in 2013. The team's weapon of choice will be the Ferrari 458 Italia GTE of which they've already purchased two. Their first appearance in the international motorsport scene will be at the 24 Hours of Dubai in which they will be entering the two cars before the ELMS championship kicks in next April.

The Ferrari 458 Italia GTE is powered by a 4.5-Liter V8 producing 465 Hp and 520 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed sequential transmission and it has a dry weight of 1245 Kg. The GT3 variant is more powerful with 580 Hp and a dry weight of 1180 Kg. Mansory Siracusa 458 Italia: love or hate

Swiss tuner Mansory chose to drop the flexible front lips of the Ferrari 458 Italia in favor of a more Enzo-like front end. The result is quite disturbing but the gain in performance is noticeable. The extensive use of carbon fiber led to a significant weight gain of 70 Kg. The Siracusa develops an extra 20 Hp over the standard 458 Italia which means it can go from naught to 100 Km/h in 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of 330 Km/h (206 mph).
